Who is at risk?

Any young person is at risk of being sexually exploited.  Factors that make some young people more vulnerable than others are…

  • being missing, runaway or homeless
  • being in care
  • having prior experience of sexual, physical or emotional abuse or neglect
  • lacking friends or lacking friends from the same age group
  • not attending school or regularly missing school
  • living with mental health barriers
  • using drugs and alcohol
  • having low self-esteem or low-confidence
  • being part of the LQBT2Q community
  • being from the Aboriginal community
  • being new to the city/area

If you are worried you or someone you know is at-risk of being sexually exploited you should speak to someone.
